CETENA E LA SIMULAZIONE NAVALE Consolle
Console
CETENA has a solid experience with manoeuvring and navigation simulations. Today, thanks
to more than twenty years of R&D and consultancy for harbour designers and Port Authorities,
CETENA can offer an integrated simulation environment - ViSLab – where SAND, the new
manoeuvring simulator, is regularly used for consultancy and training.
IL SIMULATORE SAND
SAND is a system for manoeuvring simulation and training. It features a ship consolle and high
quality visualisation system and is built upon a simulation model and software developed by
CETENA. A dedicated computing station is used to set the simulation conditions, in terms of
scenario, environmental conditions, ship characteristics; the controls on the consolle can be set
such as to riproduce those of the simulated ship. During each simulation, all relevant data are
stored for subsequent debriefing sessions and restart of manoeuvres.

Training is carried out through use of a trainer station and a trainee station.
The former allows definition of:
The trainer station can modify the simulation conditions, e.g. change the environmental
conditions or the heading and speed of the other ships in the simulation scenario.
All operations carried out by the trainee are recorded by the system to be subsequently
analysed and used for training purposes.
