METOSIS VS MEIOSIS. WHICH ONE IS BETTER?

Mitosis is a form of eukaryotic cell division that produces two daughter cells with the
same genetic component as the parent cell. Chromosomes replicated during the S phase are
divided in such a way as to ensure that each daughter cell receives a copy of every
chromosome. The replicated chromosomes are attached to a 'mitotic apparatus' that aligns
them and then separates the sister chromatids to produce an even partitioning of the genetic
material. This separation of the genetic material in a mitotic nuclear division (or karyokinesis)
is followed by a separation of the cell cytoplasm in a cellular division (or cytokinesis) to produce
two daughter cells.

Compare to mitosis, meiosis is much better to meiosis. Meiosis is the form of

eukaryotic cell division that produces haploid sex cells or gametes (which contain a single
copy of each chromosome) from diploid cells (which contain two copies of each chromosome).
The process takes the form of one DNA replication followed by two successive nuclear and
cellular divisions (Meiosis I and Meiosis II). As in mitosis, meiosis is preceded by a process of
DNA replication that converts each chromosome into two sister chromatids. Meiosis begins
following one round of DNA replication in cells in the male or female sex organs. The process
is split into meiosis I and meiosis II, and both meiotic divisions have multiple phases. Meiosis
I is a type of cell division unique to germ cells, while meiosis II is similar to mitosis.

Why meiosis is better to mitosis?? This is because meiosis continually reshuffles the
genes resulting in a great variety of offspring. Without meiosis we would all look exactly alike.
Meiosis allows each offspring to be different, and so potentially better, than the parent. If a
disease comes along, there is a good chance that some of the population won't get sick or die
because everyone's DNA isn't exactly alike. As for mitosis some single cell organisms and
some plants do not reproduce sexually through meiosis. Rather, they use mitosis only to make
exact copies of their cells. Because of this, in a population or all of the plants in an area will
have the exact same DNA. If a new disease comes along every single organism or plant will
be wiped out because if one organism or plant is unable to fight the disease that means none
can fight the disease.
