Composition and components of the fluid has major role in fluid's efficiency.

Additives
or adsorbents are optional and added in moral to increase the efficiency of the fluid in
sedimentation factor. Each component has special features and conditions to perform in
efficient mode. Fluid’s major constituent is taken by carrier fluid. The commonly used carrier
liquids are mineral oil, synthetic oil and silicone oil. Silicone oil has good temperature-stability
and good heat-transfer characteristics, oxidation resistance. Proper magnetizable particles
are considered for suspension in MR Fluid. The size of magnetic particles can be in order of
micron to nano ranges. In some cases, iron powder is considered for easy dispersion. These
materials used as additives include stabilizers and surfactants as well as high viscosity
materials such as grease, thixotropic agents, anti-friction and anti-abrasion/erosion
compounds [6]. Additives are necessary to control viscous nature of the fluid. This can prevent
sedimentation and redispersion problems. It can also prevent thickening of the fluid after
several cycles of usage.

The material of the particles has an impact on the maximum yield stress since its value
increases with the square of the saturation magnetization of the particles. The mechanical
energy needed to yield the microstructure increases as the applied field increases resulting in
a field dependent yield stress.

. It can be seen in view as ‘Why static mode?’. Every materials potential is initially analysed to
proceed with dynamic behaviour. Analysing potential state of MR Fluid shows its behaviour
of Newtonian fluid. A viscoelastic material (VEM) combines these two properties.

it returns to its original shape after being stressed, but does it slowly enough to oppose the
next cycle of vibration. The degree to which a material behaves either viscously or elastically
depends mainly on temperature and rate of loading (frequency) [6].
