Project background

The 6 storey building is being Constructed by EMA under supervision of the client caisse
sociale du Rwanda and its consultants. Construction began on ………

Project status

The construction of building frames and walls is complete and the building finishing is
currently underway.

 In plumbing, pipes have been placed but the water tanks haven’t been installed. The
pumps that are to pump water from the ground water tanks to the water tanks on
the roof haven’t been installed either since the construction of their shelter room is
still underway.
 In electric installation, the conduits have been laid but wiring hasn’t taken place yet.
Though the generator has been brought on site, there are still some problems
regarding its installation.
Lightening protection has been provided but tests have to be made to check
whether the material (zink coatend with copper) is appropriate for the safety of the
building.
Current issues

The types of problems encountered on site can generally be classified into two categories,
those resulting from lack of communication between the contractor and the sub contractor,
especially in the electrical department, and miscellaneous problems, i.e. problems not
resulting from one particular reason but many.

The main issues noticed on the site can be summarized as follows:
