General Membership Meeting

1. Welcome/Introductions

2. Meetings will be on the second Tuesday of every month at 6:30p at the Forestdale library.

5. Treasurer’s Report

6. Funds Requests
A. Proposed budget is $18,500.
i. Grade level grants - $2,000 per grade x 7 grades (K-6)= $14,000. Note that if
grant money is not used by January, it becomes available for any grade to use.
ii. Specials grants - $3,000 ($600 per special, split 50/50 Forestdale/Oak Ridge).
iii. PreK grant - $500
iv. Misc grants - $1,000. Drop from $2,000 to help us not lower grade level grants
again this year.

B. Form is the same as last year. We are requiring anyone who submits a request to be
present to discuss or it will not be voted on.
C. Ms. Hammond, Grade 5 is requesting $2,780 to cover the transportation costs for 5th
grade students to attend the Commonwealth Museum (Massachusetts Archives). The museum
is free; students will receive docent led tours of the exhibits covering Massachusetts history and
participate in a reenactment of the Boston Massacre.

8. Book Fairs
A. Forestdale - Open Positions
i. Fall dates are 11/15-11/21 and Spring 3/28-4/5.
ii. Ice Cream Social - looking at 11/16?
B. Oak Ridge - Heather S. & Sabrina
i. Fall dates are 10/22-10/24.
ii. Take book fair in Scholastic dollars.
iii. Requesting in Scholastic dollars: $500 for students in need, $250 for literacy
room, 42 $75 gift certificates for classroom teachers. We typically do $50 but there was
no book fair last spring so they got nothing. And we have a large surplus. $500 for library.

9. Fundraising - Heather and Jesi


A. List of upcoming Fundraising Events
i. Town Wide Yard Sale, 9/29 8a-2p
ii. Lego Club Update - two sessions this fall, one session each on Wednesdays and
Thursdays 9/26-11/1 (5 weeks per session, $50 per student). Requesting a budget of $750.

iii. BJs Wholesale Club Update
iii. Wizards, 1/31 - The Wizards will be returning to Sandwich High School on Thursday,
January 31, 2019. Requesting $1450 to pay deposit due September 30.

iii. Silvergraphics - Forestdale: students will be working on artwork in art class through
mid-October. Order forms will be available 11/8, order period will run through 11/15.
B. Boosterathon Update - Heather S. & Courtney
i. Dates are 10/25-11/5 and the actual run is 11/5.

15. Art History - Diane and Donna
A. Update on Art History payments and taxes/1099s

C. Stipend: $2,020 annually. Two trainers in the past have split the stipend. Trainers are
proposing to hire a third trainer, to stay below the $600 for tax purposes.
i. DISCUSS AND VOTE:
D. Update Request: Trainers would like to update portfolios; each grade has 6 portfolios
at $88.32= $529.92 per grade level. x7 grade levels = $3,709.44 Total.

16. Spending Requests:


A. Mary Cox Fund - requesting amount TBA. About $260 from the fund was spent last
year (out of $2,000). This fund is part of our By-laws to support underpriviledged students.
