Applause! Applause!
Next time you see Sally Poole, extend a warm
handshake. She and her team at Poole Advertising
have been revamping our website to make it more
user-friendly, fresh and promotional. She donated the
printing costs of our recent Chamber of Commerce
advertisement and designed an impressive new club
logo that will replace the steamboat. Sally is also do-
nating club letterhead stationary and promotional-
style business cards to the managers to help garner
membership and banquet functions. You’re the best,
Sally! Thanks for the extra effort!!

And how about Robyn Williamson and Greg As-
mussen! They not only put together a beautiful Pre-
Folklife Party at the club, but they also donated the
Patio Fire Pit. We’ve made great use of the crackling
blaze since its construction.
Next spring, we plan to transform the pit into a
flower garden. Greg also is going to install perimeter
outlets along the outside of the Garden and Formal
Dining Rooms so we can “twinkle” at holiday time.

In the past year, the Board of Directors,
Treasurer and staff have been critically re-
viewing all operational costs in an effort to
control expenses of the Club.
One area of concern is the privilege of our
members to use their credit cards at the
Club. The cost to the Club in bank service
fees for this privilege has increased to over
$6,000 in the past 12 months.
We understand that our members use their
credit cards for business, entertainment, re-
cord keeping, reward points and conven-
ience. At this time credit card transactions
will not be denied if you so choose; how-
ever, we are requesting members to sim-
ply “write a check,” especially for dues
and high dollar monthly payments.

If you are no longer decorating your home and

have extra strings of lights in your basement or ga-
rage, please bring them to the club. The Entertain-
ment Committee will be working on this project now
through November 26.

CLUB MEMBERSHIP

In preparation for the annual shareholders’ meeting on December 13, the Finance Committee
will be meeting to summarize the finances for the year 2010 and prepare the budget for 2011.

In order for the committee to more accurately create the 2011 budget, knowing the member-
ship numbers is critical to this process. According to the By-Laws, Article III, Section 1 and 2,
reads as follows (briefly):

“It shall be the duty of the Secretary to close the books of the Club on January 1st of each year
and proceed to bill all members of the Club for current dues. All dues become due and payable
on the first day of January each year. Such dues may be paid in two (2) semi-annual install-
ments. The first installment shall become due the first day of January each year and shall be-
come delinquent on and after the first day of February. The subsequent installments shall be
due the first day of April each year.”

We are hoping each and every member stays with us in the coming year, but since annual dues
are so vital to our operation, it becomes critical for members to advise, in writing, their plans
to withdraw membership prior to the end of the year.

Annual Shareholders’ Meeting
The annual Shareholders’ Meeting will
be held at the Club on Monday,
December 13.
The budget will be presented and four (4)
directors elected for a three-year term.
Club Usage
Our food is good, our staff is good, our at-
mosphere is good. If members would just
increase their usage of the Club restaurant
one meal a week, it would have a very posi-
tive impact on our cash flow!!

FROM THE BOARD:

 Membership stands at 180.
 Dan and Linda Cooke were approved for trial membership.
 Club House Manager, April Kent, presented a written report
for the month of September. September and October are
busy with special events.
 Discussion was made regarding special events. The Board
agreed all special events in the future will require specific
details to be discussed prior to approval.
 Discussion was made regarding proxy votes. A policy and
form are being developed and will be presented at the No-
vember Board meeting.
