“FORGIVENESS” (under Old and New Covenant)

Basically, ang four (4) Gospels po talaga nung panahon po ni Jesus. Si Jesus ay nag-ooperate
under Old Covenant. Basahin nyo ang Matthew 5, 6 and 7 dito ay nakikita n’yo ang sinabi ni
Jesus na: “You have heard that it was said”. Itinu-tuwid ni Jesus ang mga salitang pinilipit ng
mga Pariseo. At sa tagpo po na “Sermon of the Mount” dito ay unti-unting ipinakikilala ni Jesus
ang “New Covenant”.
FYI po, the New Covenant happen when Jesus died on the cross. Sabi sa Hebrews 9:16-17
Magkakaroon ng kabuluhan ang Old Covenant kung mamamatay ang gumawa nito. Sabi po sa
Matthew 5:17 17 “Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not
come to abolish them but to fulfill them.
Punta tayo sa ‘forgiveness’ sa Old Covenant sabi sa Matthew 6:12 (Si Jesus po ang nagsasalita
dito)..and forgive as our debts as we also have forgiven our debtors (Ikaw ay magpatawad at
ikaw rin ay patatawarin ng Diyos sa iyong mga kasalanan). Dito ay makikita na ang
pagpapatawad ay base sa iyong gawa (man’s performance).

So, this is now our “forgiveness” under the New Covenant according to Ephesians 4:32
32Sa halip, maging mabait kayo at maawain; magpatawad kayo sa isa't isa tulad ng
pagpapatawad sa inyo ng Diyos dahil kay Cristo. You see the big difference. Our sins was
forgiven thru the finished work of Jesus on the cross at ito ang kaganapan ng Bagong Tipan o
New Covenant. We are forgiven not because of our performance but because of our position in
Christ. At ano itong position na ito kay Christ: that we are Righteous, Holy and Forgiven. If you
knew you are “forgiven” you can easily forgive. Mas madali mong mahalin ang Diyos dahil S’ya
ang unang nagmahal saiyo (we love b’coz He first love us). Hindi ka na kailangan magpatawad
para patawarin ka ng Diyos, pinatawad ka na Niya.
