According to the AMM to work on aileron, first we have to position the aileron in extended
position, so we extended aileron and use a piece of wood to hold it in the position. It reduces the
work load when we work on spoilers.
Safety Precautions were observed all times. Before working on the aileron, we have to turn the
Battery switch OFF and disconnect the battery and tag the caution sign in the battery connections
and the adjacent control mechanism of the aileron in the cockpit. Thus it will be safe for the
people working in the aileron. Since our aircraft does not have a battery the tagging procedure
was not done.

PROCEDURE:
First we disconnected the actuator rod from the aileron center link-age.
Disassembled the spade observing the quantity and locations of the washers.
Then we loosen the hinge bolts and the ground bonding leads and remove the bolts.
Then we installed the aileron after inspection, aileron was installed in reverse sequence of
removal. Before installing we checked the spade is installed with the same quantity and
location of washers.
INSPECTION:
Once the ailerons were removed we inspected thoroughly for any damages.
We inspected hinges and push rod attachments for abrasion, wear, corrosion and any
external damage.
We found that fasteners were missing in one of the three hinges. Which includes a nut.
Bolt, washer and cotter pin.
Fasteners were also inspected for wear, abrasion and corrosion.
One bonding jumper was also damaged.
Hinges were checked for play and found that it’s in satisfactory condition as there were
