Quite likely the most destructive sounding PT2399 delay you’ve ever heard.
Schematic

R1 1M R_.3B R0207/3
R3 1M R_.3B R0207/3
Build Notes:
- This is a delay like no other before it. It has a GAIN control to distort the delay signal, and the
delay signal is further abused with a LFO to simulate a sticky capstan or failing motor, a
pseudo-random LFO for “tape wobble,” and part of the random LFO controls a basic filter
along the delay line for random frequency cuts/boosts and pops. It’s a very dynamic and
interactive pedal: turn up the gain, turn down the feedback; turn up the filter wobble, adjust
the mix. You get the point. Tons of fun and weird sounds alongside normal delay sounds (But
who wants those? That’s not why you have this PCB!)
- A couple of board fixes. Make sure not to put in R47 and R56. Attach leg 1 of the FILTDEPTH
pot to ground by connecting it to the top pad of R49. Connect leg 1 of the STICKDEPTH pot
to ground by connecting it to the left leg of R52.
- I attached C34 and C13 to the pot side of the board and bent them over so they can fit in an
enclosure.Be mindful of polarity!
- The LED/LDR combination is up to you. I used the Tayda LDRs and 3mm orange diffused
LEDs. Experiment with what sounds best to you.
- The 9mm pots that I used are the black plastic shaft ones. You might want to put a piece of
electrical tape over the solder pads of R45 before adding the FILTDEPTH pot to prevent the
solder pad of the resistor from bumping the metal supports of the pot.
- This would be a tight fit if you attempt to cram this in a 1590BB, but in theory, it should be
possible unless you use the…
Build Notes:
- If using this add-on board, connect it to the main board with male and female connectors.
- You can wire a SPDT switch to the bonus board to turn the extra delay signal off and on, or
you can just jump the middle and top pad if you always want it on.
- If using the bonus board, you will most likely need a taller enclosure…probably a 1590BB
TALL.
