ONCE UPON A DREAM

What is Cellulose Acetate?
CA is a transparent and glossy plastic that can easily cut. It comes in different thickness and sizes.
Cellulose Acetate was originally used for photographic film as a replacement for the unstable and
highly flammable nitrocellulose film. Today, CA is used for many application such as anti-fog
goggles, optical film for LCD technology and etc.

Objective:
To come-up with new decorative design
The effective use of cellulose acetate as embellishment

Design Brief

Looking through the entire history of fashion, it is important to look beyond styles of dress and
textile choices. In order to know what embellishment should we place, whether for practical or adornment
purposes. This study aims to create a sustainable embellishment inspired from Cinderella Movie. We all
know that Cinderella is one of the greatest titles of all time and I want that to incorporate it to my
collection.

Objective:
To reduce waste materials by creating new design
The effective use of vinyl sheets as an embellishment

Design Brief

Coral reefs are the most diverse of all marine ecosystems. Unfortunately, people also pose the
greatest threat to coral reefs. In some places, reefs have been entirely destroyed, and in many places reefs
today are pale shadow of what they once were. This study not only aims to create an Avante Garde
collection but awareness towards the environment specifically the marine life. Life under the sea is dying
and I want my collection to be a message to the people that are ocean is polluted by our own waste.

THE UTILIZATION OF COIR AS AN EMBELLISHMENT

INSPIRED FROM PHILIPPINE PANGOLIN’S SCALE
FOR A AVANTE GARDE COLLECTION

What is Coir?

Coir is in between the shell and the outer coating of the coconut seed. Two types of Coir brown
and white. Brown coir comes from mature coconuts, stronger but less flexible. White coir comes from
pre-ripe coconuts, less strong and not as flexible as the brown coir.

Objective:
The effective use of coir fibre as embellishment
To create a design made of coir fibre

Design Brief

This collection is an avante garde inspired from a pangolin animal that can be found in our own
land which is in Palawan. These animals are nocturnal, their main source of food are ants and termites.
This study uses coir fibre as an alternative scale of a pangolin. I came up with this concept because I want
my collection to be the voice of the pangolins. Why? Because I saw this news a month ago, numerous of
pangolins and turtles are slaughtered.
