Many effects units can be home constructed for far Jess than the cost of a ready-made equivalent. The do-t- yourself approach also provides access to a range of effects Units that have no true commercial equivalents. This book provides sixteen circuits for musical effects Units, including old favourites such as distortion, compres- sion, and waa-waa units, and the more unusual such as an ‘envelope modifier and 's split phase tremolo unit. The fktouits cover 2 range of complexities, but none are beyond the capabilites of the average electronics hobbyist. Some fare simple enough for beginners to tackle (the soft and hard distortion units, and the waa-was pedal for example). Where sppropriate, notes on any awkward aspects of construction provided, as are notes on setting up and using the devices, No test equipment is needed in order to get any of the citcuits ‘adjusted correctly. All the circuits are based on inexpensive ‘components that are readily available, R.A. Penfold
