Vocabulary Lesson Reflection

For this demonstration, I taught the words captious, bibulous, and malapropism. Before

teaching the words, I first asked if they knew what they meant. Since they did not, I asked them

if they knew the synonyms of the words. For example, one of the synonyms of captious is

critical. Since they understood this word, I connected it back to the definition of captious. I

completed these steps with each word. I then used each word in separate sentences. Although

these words did not subject themselves to being explained with pictures, I would have if I could.

This activity showed me how many steps it can take to teach students vocabulary words. For

ELL students, it would be crucial for me to provide images of the vocabulary words to ensure

they are getting all the support they can.
