44.4 415 APPENDIX 2 operated by gravity flow to minimize the power requirement (4) the system design should preferably have no or minimal need for chemicals and pumping and also allow for minimal operator's attendance; (5) operation, maintenance and repair work should be within the competence of the operators from the local community; (6) operational, maintenance and repair costs should be minimal and within the payment capability of the local community as these costs will be borne by them; (7) appropriate monitoring system should be provided to monitor the performance of the proposed system; (8) the contractor to consider using Slow Sand Filtration (SSF) system as priority system for SAWAS if deemed suitable. (Detailed justifications to be given if system proposed is otherwise. The Contractor is required to do a life cycle cost Comparison analysis including the pros and cons of the two systems. However, the employer has the right to decide which of the above two water supply systems is to be recommended for use in the project.) Collection of Data, Investigation and Survey The Contractor shall collect and analyze all available records, data, maps and drawings and shall carry out all necessary study, site investigation and survey required for the design, construction and completion of the whole works under the Contract. The Contractor shall also be responsible to carry out all necessary feasibility study to identify the location of the proposed raw water intake source as well as carry out all necessary tests to ascertain the suitability of the raw water quality at the proposed raw water intake site, so as to ensure that the proposed water supply system is able to treat the raw water from the proposed source to provide the required clean/safe water supply The Contractor shall carry out survey and submit the proposed sites for the raw water intake, treatment facilities, storage tank and booster pumping station (where necessary) to the Project Director for submission of siting application to Land and Survey Department. The contractor shall liaise with the local YB & Ketua Kampung in identifying suitable proposed sites. The contractor shall obtain the letter of consent from the Ketua Kampung to kick start the proposed site while waiting for siting application to be approved Power Supply Power supply for lighting is required to be provided. However, for the components of the proposed water supply system, power supply is to be proposed only when gravity flow is not feasible in respect of
