This part of an organization could be defined as a backbone of the other further functions and processes

within a company.

Based on these TQM basic elements and using the purchasing function as the unit of analysis, a
similar set of key elements could be developed to define quality management purchasing.

Therefore, we have used the six following salient factors or constructs to define quality
management purchasing:
- supplier quality management -quality information
-personnel management -management commitment
-cross-functional coordination -and benchmarking
Under the influence of the TQM approach, Purchasing has to adopt a new strategy
of operation with emphasis on quality rather than price.
-Not all quality goods are expensive, and not all expensive goods are of good quality.
-In the selection and evaluation of suppliers, quality has been elevated to the most important
factor, while other considerations such as price, have become less important[l]

There is a trend towards supplier partnering relationships


-Purchasing professionals are pursuing practices to improve supplier relationships and ensure quality.
-supplier certification
-moving towards single sources of supply
-investment in the training and support of suppliers
-involving suppliers in the product design
-sharing of information and rewards with suppliers

Purchasing quality assurance.


The supplier selection and verification of the contracts is the main step of the purchasing quality
assurance.
It also includes
-the inspection and testing of the received materials and supplements
- production provision and identification and traceability of materials.
- monitoring and measuring equipment.
-It includes inspection of transportation and storages of the purchased products
