The Lancer-Quadrilles are like nothing else in the Bruckner canon.

Originally for piano the title makes one picture squares of mounted riders whose horses perform intricate movements.

With that in mind, I wrote this arrangement of the 3rd of 4 quadrilles, giving it a loud, raucous circus sound by voicing
the first clarinet in the highest register.

I'd like to apologize to my fellow bassoonists for a part that is neither challenging nor melodically rewarding, but
considering the bassoon parts in his symphonies, at least it's short.
