PART-A (10X2=20)
Answer ALL the questions
1. Definedensity and specific gravity?
2. Definespecific weight and specific volume? 3. Definebulk modulus? 4. Definekinematicviscosity? 5. Definecapillary rise and fall? 6. What is use of inverted differential manometer? 7. Define hydrostatic force? 8. What is mean by total pressure and centre of pressure? 9. Draw the stable, unstable & normal objects? 10.Why ship is floating and iron bar is immersed in water?
PART-B (3X10=30)
1. Derive an expression depth of centre of pressure from free surface of
liquid of aflat plane surface submerged in liquid. 2. A ship 60 m long and 12 m broad has a displacement of 20620 KN. A weight of 302.3 KN is moved across the deck through a distance of 6.5 m. The ship is tilled through 6 .ͦ The moment of inertia of the ship at water line about its force and after axis is 75% of moment of inertia the circumscribing rectangle. The centre of buoyancy is 2.75 m below water line .Find the meta-centric height and position of centre of gravity of ship. Take specific weight of sea water = 10104 N/m3. 3. A pipe contains an oil sp. Gr. 0.9. A differential manometer connected at the two points A and B of the pipe shows a difference in mercury level as 23 cm. Find the difference of pressure at the two points.
