John Francis Bongiovi Jr., known by his stage name Jon Bon Jovi, is an American musician,
actor, composer, philanthropist and record producer, recognized for being the lead singer of

The song itself is by Leonard Cohen but in "Shrek" was played by John Cale. However, the
version of Rufus Wainwright is the one that appears on the album with the music of "Shrek".
There are many covers of this song (believed to be around 200) and there are many variations
in the lyrics. Cohen himself sang two versions with different lyrics. The original version
contained 80 verses.

"Hallelujah" is a song written by Canadian singer Leonard Cohen and published on his album
Various Positions in 1984. The title itself is the Hebrew word Hallelujah which means "praise
God" and is repeated 27 times throughout the song .
According to experts say the lyrics of the song are consistent with the music, because while the
song is described. The first Hallelujah, David's, is the end of the chord. "Hallelujah" begins with
the mention of a secret chord discovered by the Biblical King David that pleased the Lord,
whose seduction of Bathsheba is chronicled in Samuel 2:11 of the Old Testament. According to
the biblical account, David saw her bathing in the ceiling and was dazzled. Bethseva was
married to a soldier. David, using his power as king, asked that they send him to the front of
the battle, to a certain death that would "free" Bethseva. She however ended up destroying

", Referring to what Delilah did to Samson. He no longer speaks of Bethseva, but of the woman
in general, the woman of whom a man falls passionately in love.

Cohen is Jewish by father, and was educated in Jewish tradition. According to family tradition,
the Cohens descend from the Kohanim. "I was loved as a messiah," Cohen told Richard
Golstein in 1967, "and I was told that I was descended from Aaron" ("cohen" means "priest" in
Hebrew). However, religiosity is not the theme of the song, it is a resource of spiritual and
intimate expression.

Cohen takes biblical elements, rather characters and metaphors from certain books of the old
testament. The words King David, Lord, Sacred Dove, are used as symbols, they do not refer
only to religious aspects but they express much more. Cohen simply uses the Judeo-Christian
symbology of the Western world to express the glory and the pain of living. The religious
verses and allegories to David, Samson and the same god, only lead us to understand that
bitterness is linked to the fall of the love of man, to betrayal, and the pain of relationships ... In
its six verses embraces different themes of human existence: love, death, loneliness,
weakness, forgiveness, redemption, mercy.

The song suggests that the path of earthly life is a journey where we will find evidence that will
help us learn and sing that hallelujah product of our blood, sweat and tears. Wherever the
path of passion takes us, we will be exposed to suffering but also to that wisdom hidden in
suffering. Finally life is so beautiful and hard that it pushes us to sing standing up a cold and
broken hallelujah.
 Seal- kiss from a rose

Kiss from a Rose "is a song by the British singer Seal that was released as a single on July 18,
1994 in the United Kingdom and a year later in the United States.

This song was included in the repertoire of his second album titled simply "Seal" (also known
as Seal II) and was also included in the soundtrack of the movie Batman Forever (1995).

Thanks to the promotion in the film, this song was taking success in the world, until reaching
the first places in the rankings of the five continents and leaving Seal among the most famous
singers of the 90's.

Seal, who was the son of Nigerian parents and as a child was sent to London to be with a
family that adopted him, wrote this song as a fair musical tribute to the band Crosby, Stills &
Nash.

With a curious time of waltz and remarkable musical details and an extraordinary sound, this
song stood out for its own brightness more than for being part of a movie of the king of the
night (?).

The song also has a certain "air" to Stairway To Heaven from The Led Zeppelin, especially in
the part where a somewhat medieval sound is used with flutes and striking sound effects.

But the song also had its controversy, since various media speculated that the lyrics of "Kiss
from a Rose" spoke about the abuse and consumption of Cocaine.

What happened is that many (idle) journalists had nothing more to do than decided to give
double meanings to some phrases of the song, mentioning in their pages that Seal had left a
hidden message about the effects of drugs.

Obviously the fans of the singer came out to defend the song and his words fell into what was
a simple ballad of love, which tells the relationship between the man and a woman whose
story is very reflected in the plot of Beauty and the Beast

This song was a success in the US, where he reached the top of the Billboard Hot 100 thanks to
"Batman" and also reached the # 1 spot in the Adult Contemporary charts and was in that
position for twelve weeks.

In 1996, Seal won three Grammies in the category: Recording of the Year, Song of the Year and
Best Pop Vocal Performance. She was also nominated at the MTV Movie Awards in that same
year.
