Recommendations

From the experiment the following things to consider or recommend are as follows:
1. The gangue to be used must have uniform properties to recover accurate results of solute
in the leaching process.
2. The apparatus to be used must be calibrated for accuracy especially the beakers and the
burrette.
3. In the titration procedure, be careful not to over-titrate the solution to acquire the correct
data for the concentration to be used in the calculations.
4. There must be enough equipment to be used to limit washing. This is because the more
we wash the apparatus, the more it becomes contaminated and the less accurate is the
data gathered.

Objectives:
Generally, the objective of this experiment is to recover the oxalic acid using the water as a
solvent and the sand as an insoluble gangue. It specifically aims to:
1. Compare the theoretical number of stages versus the actual number of stages through
leaching.
2. Gather data results in the volume of overflow and volume of NaOH through decantation
and titration respectively.
3. To acquire the concentration of solution throughout each stage through using the volume
of overflow and volume of sodium hydroxide.
