A near monitoring station has put 75Ω coaxial transmission line with a
length of 20 m and is terminated with an antenna of 37.5 + j78Ω. If the
relative permittivity of the line is 2.56 and the frequency is 3.0 GHz, find the
input impedance to the line, the reflection coefficient at the load, the
reflection coefficient at the input, and the SWR on the line.
The input impedance will be determined by,

Z L + j Z 0 tan ( βl )
Z ¿ =Z 0
Z 0 + j Z L tan ( βl )

Where,

β=ω √ με

β=100.58

Replacing, we find that,

Z ¿ =183.88− j 157.71 Ω

The reflection coefficient at the load is,

Z L −Z 0
Γ L=
Z L +Z 0

Γ L=0.099+ j 0.624

The reflection coefficient at the input is,

Z ¿ −Z 0
Γ g=
Z ¿+ Z 0

Γ g=0.577− j 0.257

Finally, the SWR is given by,

1+|Γ L|
SWR=
1−|Γ L|

SWR=4.438
The next figure shows the simulations with the app “Smith_chart”
available in the play store. It validates the previous results. Look that the
input impedance is normalized, so, the input impedance will be,
Z ¿ =( R+ jX ) ⋅Z 0

Z ¿ =( 2.29− j 2.11 ) ⋅ 75

Z ¿ =171.15− j158.26 Ω

This is a result very approached to the theory result. In the software, the
SWR is 4.4, it is almost equal to the theory result.
