OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
for the
16-35MM DEVELOPING TANKOPERATION
| The G-3 Developer is a manually operated mechanical
device for pracessing Double 8, 16 and 35 mm. motion picture
| film, Film may be processed to a negative or may be reversed
to a positive. However, reversal processing is more difficult.
Formulas, timing, temperatures, and conditions of the process
must be followed closely.
During the processing, the crank should be turned about
twice a second. This will pass 100 feet of film from one reel
to the other in approximately one minute. Care must be taken
to avoid clinching the film at the end of each pass, and if nee-
essary, cranking speed reduced.
LOADING
1. Remove the tank cover and reels, making sure the window
| is in front or facing the operator.
2. Adjust the plate on both reels to the proper width for the
film to be used.
3. In total darkness, place the fila spool on the right hand
spindle so that it will unwind couwnter-clockwise.
A, Insert the ed of the film in the left hand reel. To insure
I straight winding give the reel two turns clockwise before
} clamping the end. ‘This is the only time that the nwo
{ spindles revolve in opposite directions. The loading is
| performed in this manner so that the film will be wound
| on the reel, emulsion side out. (See FIGURE 1.)

Page 25. Place the cover in position and wind the left hand crank
clockwise until all the film is off the spool.
6. Remove cover and empry film spool. Replace right hand
reel,
7. Pass the film from the left hand reel in front of the idler
roll and insert the end in the right hand reel,
8. Give the right hand reel two turns counter-clockwise
before clamping. (See FIGURE 2.)

9. Replace the cover. Make certain that the window and
name plate are both to the front.
10. Clamp the cover in place. If the window cover is closed
securely, the remaining operations may be carried out in
bright light.
11. The solutions are poured into the tank through the open-
ing on the top of the tank cover, and emptied by pulling
out the rubber stopper, which is located beneath the
window cover. Both inlet and outlet are light proof.
Use crank to wind the film through the processing solu-
tion from one reel to the other in the direction indicated
on the cover.
NEGATIVE PROCESSING
Negative processing follows normal photographic procedure,
for either negative film or mosf reversal film. Certain reversal
film, such as Agfa Hypan, must be processed by reversal as the
antihalation backing consists of colloidal silver rather than a
