Looking at the rapid technological advancements in the recent decades that aim to ease our lives, it

is effortless to overlook the difficulties others suffer from. Thus, it is fundamental to look into and
provide help for those in need, in particular, residents of the Gaza strip and the humanitarian crisis
they have to put up to. The dispute between the belligerents of Israel and Palestine which started in
the 20th century has led to the death of many and caused an unprecedented crisis in the Strip.
Shortage of suitable for consumption water supply, power crisis with only 8 hours of electricity
available per day and other want of basic necessities has been a major obstacle for residents of the
area. Unemployment rate and poverty rate of the Gaza strip reaching as high as 44% and 39%
respectively in May 2018. Not only that, for more than 5 months, Palestinians in the Gaza Strip have
protested along the fence with Israel demanding their right to return to the homes and land their
families were expelled from 70 years ago. “The great march of return” as it was called was met with
fierce defence from Israel with tear gas and live ammunition being used that led to well over 8.700
wounded and more than 100 others killed in mere weeks of demonstration on March 2018. Although
there have been advancements in the political warfare in order to alleviate the tensions between the
2 countries, there has been little effort been made into ease the life of people reside in the Gaza
Strip. Although as individuals, we do not have the capability to directly help Gaza strip resident. We
can help raise awareness of the rising tensions in the area along with the demonstration organized
by its citizens and its consequences.
