Key-words: Early and Middle Copper Age, Carpathian Basin, AMS data, Bayesian

approach, Tiszapolgár, Bodrogkeresztúr, Hunyadihalom cultures

Summary: The relative chronological systems for Early and Middle Copper Age in the
eastern half of the Carpathian Basin are showing the following succession: Tiszapolgár
culture, followed by Bodrogkersztúr culture and finally Hunyadihalom culture. The AMS
data, obtained in the past years from Hungary, Slovakia and Romania, are improving very
much the absolute chronology’s picture for these three archaeological cultures. Using
Bayesian approaches is possible to show that the relative chronology’s picture is totally
supported by the 14C data analysis.
