SSHA calls for Social Awareness

WITH THE DESIRE to propagate awareness within their institution, the Social
Sciences and Humanities Association (SSHA) administered an activity, “Red Speak Now,”
last August 16 in the St. Maur’s lobby.
Under the leadership of Camille Asi, the organization’s Head for Community Involvement,
SSHA made use of a loose board and placed it near the St. Maur’s exit where they encouraged
Bedans to participate in their activity by writing their opinions on the prevailing social issues that
have been making headlines.
Varied opinions including the rampant killings were scribbled on the said board.
Apart from their individual stands, Bedans also took such opportunity to create a
motivating atmosphere which was deemed to be relevant for the Mental Health of all students.
The event owed its success to those who actively joined the said activity including
professors and Student Council Officers.
SSHA’s motivation to call for social awareness within San Beda University grew as they
recently released a pamphlet last September 6.
The said issue was used as an avenue for the organization to convey its stance regarding
Gender Equality.
This series of issues are expected from the said organization as they invite the Bedan
community to “Be informed [and] be involved”.
Through a statement, SSHA reminded the students, “As members of the global society,
you have the right to speak your mind and talk freely about topics that concern and interest you.”
