ANDbyTHE PILFERED PROMISE Charlotte Lenihan EXT. 1950S BLACKPOOL. DAY.
The scene opens up to a view of the Blakpool Tower, the

EXT. BENCH ON BLACKPOOL PROMENADE. DAY.
Pearl Bloomer is sitting on a bench, knitting happily.
Seagulls flock around for her leftover pasty offerings. She notices a man walking past. He had just thrown an empty glass bottle of pop onto the floor rather than the bin that is an arm's length away. Pearl tutters and frowns at the man.
Pearl grabs a spare knitting needle and struggles to reach
over to hook her needle through the neck of the bottle. The man, who had paused walking away, is watching her. While Pearl is preocupied with the bottle, the man rushes past and grabs her handbag.
Pearl is caught off guard for a moment, but not to be
outdone so easily, she gets up and bolted after him. Brandishing her kitting needles, she uses them like throwing knives and pins the theif against the wall. The pinned criminal shrinks down in fear as Pearl advances towards him.
EXT. BENCH ON BLACKPOOL PROMENADE. DAY.
Scene cut with the criminal dazedly waking up, surrounded by
confused police. He has been stuffed inside a bin, bound in a knitted straight jacket. He struggles, but he can't move much.
Meanwhile, Pearl is back in her earlier position, knitting
herself a mask. She holds the mask up to her face and smiles.
