Vice-Chairman of the Board Dear Friends of St. Pius X,
Karen Studyvin We are approaching the 60th anniversary of St. Pius X High School. This is an opportune time
to reflect on where we started, where we are now and where our vision for the future will lead us.
Secretary of the Board Reflection helps us recognize what we have achieved and what remains to be accomplished.
Eric Ammons Where we started...in 1959, a dedicated group of leaders within the Archdiocese and Jefferson
County created the first Catholic high school to serve this region. We thank them for their dedi-
cation and courage. Almost 60 years later, we remain the only Catholic secondary school in this
Dr. Jeff Draves region. Over 4,000 St. Pius X graduates have experienced our extraordinary culture, moving on to
vocations and callings throughout the world.
Mike Minicky Where we are now...despite the demographic challenges and evolving landscape of parochial educa-
tion, we continue to be an anchor of Catholic secondary education in the southern portion of the
St. Louis Archdiocese. We are that anchor even though the actual cost to educate a student exceeds
Randy Russell the tuition received. This trend will continue as we rededicate our efforts to make our Catholic
education affordable for anyone in our region. We humbly accept these challenges and continue to
Fr. Dan Shaughnessy support our mission through various efforts to offset the cost to educate.
Where we are going…as we continue to focus on our core mission to educate the mind, body and
Tim Surdyke, ‘83 soul of all those who attend St. Pius X, your support is a vital component of our future success.
The growth of our school will be dictated by not only our enrollment, but also the continued
improvement of the campus, facilities and education. ~ “With man this is impossible, but with God all
Rick Vest, ‘76 things are possible.” ~ Matthew 19:26 ESV
Sandy Vest, ‘78 May God continue to bless our families, community and all who support our mission.
Kindest regards,
Sue Vogt, ‘78
