The BJP has stormed to victory in the local body elections held in the Udupi City Municipal Council.

Out of the 35 seats contested, the BJP came away with 31, while the Congress won the remaining 4.
This is in contrast to the 2013 poll where the Congress won 22 seats and the BJP 12.
This victory follows the BJP’s clean sweep in the assembly elections held in May, where the party
won all five contested seats.
