A three phase 750 KW 2300 volts alternator is short circuited and is operated at rated
load and speed to produce the rated current. With the short circuit removed and the
same excitation, the voltage between terminals is 1500 volts. The effective resistance
between the terminals is known to be 1.6 ohms. Determine the percent voltage
regulation of this generator for the following power factors.
a.) 0.8 lagging b.) 0.866 leading
2. The following connection is given in connection with tests performed on a 50 KVA 2400/240
volts 60 cycle transformer:

Open Circuit test: Eoc = 240 V; Poc 350 watts

Short circuit test: Esc =72 V; Psc = 430 watts; Isc = 20.83 A

Calculate:

a.) The percent efficiency at 1.5 times its rated KVA at 0.866 lagging power factor.
b.) The maximum efficiency at 0.8 lagging power factor.
3. Three 10: 1 step-down transformers are connected wye on the primary side and delta on the
secondary side. If the primary line-to-line voltage is 3,980 and the secondary deliver a rated
balanced three-phase load of 180KW at a power factor of 0.8 lagging. Calculate: a.) the line
voltage of the secondary side. b.) the current in each of the transformer windings on the
secondary side. The current in each of the transformer windings on the primary side.
4. A 5hp 60 cycle 115 volts eight-pole three-phase induction motor was tested and the following
data were obtained:
No-load test: Vnl = 115 volt; Pt = 300 watss; Inl = 10A
Load Test: Vload = 115 volts; Pt = 4710 watts; IL = 27.3 A; Nr = 810 rpm
The effective resistance between phase terminals = 0.1 ohm
Calculate: Under load:
a.) Torque in lb-ft b.) the percent efficiency c.) Power factor
