Abstract
Research location is situated in kali Ngalang, Dusun Ngasem, Ngalang village, Gedangsari
district, Special Region of Yogyakarta. Measuring section was done, 6 lithofacieses were
identified: Massive siltstone (LF1), Massive marl (LF2), Ripple laminated siltstone (LF3),
Massive sandstone (LF4), Normal graded sandstone (LF5) and Parallel laminated sandstone
(LF6). 3 ichnofossils were present in the studied section, and are recognized at ichnogenus
and ichnospecies level: Palaeophycus, Ophiomorpha rudis and Chondrites. Four samples
(BW-01, BW-02, BW-03, BW-04) were collected from LF6 then analyzed under the
microscope. The result from analyzed samples showed that biogenic activity reduce the
porosity of the host sediment by sediment packing mechanism, which is the incorporation of
clay material into the burrow lining and burrow fill, as observed in the Ophiomorpha rudis
burrows that contained more clayey material which is concentrated on the burrow margin
(lining) and in the burrow fill.
