Subject: B. Farley: Exclusive on Hurricane Florence Animal Rescue Volunteer

Dear Mr. Farley:

In the wake of devastation, humanity reveals itself in a fervent fight to restore communities and
the lives affected by such disasters. A month has passed since Hurricane Florence hit the coast,
destroying homes to both civilians and animals. As families’ packed up their cars to escape the
storm’s monstrosity, some animals were left behind. Though most pets evacuated with their
owners, many were left inside local shelters. Volunteers joined hands to protect the area’s most
vulnerable.

Insider Magazine should write a story on Ashley Smith, an altruistic student at the College of
Charleston, who helped neighboring communities rescue more than 100 shelter animals before
the storm. As volunteerism has seen a historic low, Smith rose to the occasion alongside many of
her peers. Smith was an active volunteer at Save the Animals Foundations in Cincinnati, prior to
moving to South Carolina. She continues to work with the organization during her breaks, raising
awareness about the growing need to support non-profits. Currently, Smith is working to repair
damages to shelters that have been impacted. This Thanksgiving, STAF wants to recognize those
who selflessly spend their time caring for others, whether it’s inside or outside of their
communities, creating a sense of home for those who have lost one.

We’re offering you this story exclusively, so we will need an answer by Nov. 16 if you’re
interested. Smith, and STAF’s general manager, Christe McKittrick, have agreed to be
interviewed for this story, which includes a photo opportunity. I am happy to coordinate the
interviews, or if you prefer, you may contact Smith directly at 555-456-7890 and McKittrick at
123-456-7890. You may also follow up with me via email, or call me directly at XXX-XXX-
XXXX.

I will follow up with you by telephone on Nov. 17 if I don’t hear from you first.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Sincerely,

Anna Impullitti
