Be afraid, be very afraid, at these NH Halloween haunts

BY JULIA ANN WEEKES
NH WEEKEND EDITOR October 24. 2018 1:52PM

Stop by and visit this weekend. Were dying to see you, said scare masters on The
Ghoullogs Facebook page.
Cue the blood-curdling screams, the hallways that shrink into claustrophobic
slivers, the teeth-gnashing zombies, and, oh, all those creepy clowns.

Halloween haunts throughout New Hampshire this weekend are working hard to raise
the dead - and patrons' blood pressure. Here's a look inside some of shriek-
inducing scares in store:

Fright Kingdom, 12 Simon St., Nashua

Attractions: Apocalypse Z, where a special government team struggles to contain

infected locals; Bloodmare Manor, a Victorian home that houses a diabolical family;
Grim, a disorienting labyrinth of blackness; Psycho Circus, a madhouse of sensory
clown overload; and The Abandoned, a farmhouse where people have a habit of
disappearing.

There's also a Monster Midway with entertainment and startling encounters with some
frightening ghouls.

When: Fridays through Sundays in October, as well as Saturday, Nov. 3, when Fright
Kingdom in the Dark is scheduled. There's also Hardly Haunted afternoon events for
gentler fun.

Tickets: frightkingdom.com or 809-1173.

The Ghoullog, Cranmore Mountain Resort, 1 Skimobile Road, North Conway

Haunts: Venture through about 15,000 square feet of chills inside and then explore
the foreboding woods. (Recommended for ages 10 and older).

There's also a Haunted Playground featuring the Mountain Coaster ride up and down
the mountain, the Soaring Eagle Zip Line and the Giant Swing. Caution: scares
ahead.

When: Fridays and Saturdays in October, as well as Nov. 3.The Light's Out event
will be on Friday, Nov. 2.

Tickets: theghoullog.com or 800-7866754

Screeemfest at Canobie Lake Park in Salem

Attractions: New this year is Facility 235, where a ruptured reactor core's
radiation is having some unforeseen effects on workers; The Culling, a place where
disappearances are common; The Canobie Lake Hotel, where guests check in but they
don't check out; Carnivus, a sinister circus where hungry clowns rule; and The
Village, a defunct mining community that insists on interacting with the living.

There's also a simulated journey to the beyond inside a coffin in The Last Ride
feature. And check out the Swingshift Sideshow on the park's entertainment stage
for some twisted skills, stunts and feats of strength.

When: Friday through Sunday.

Tickets: 893-3506canobie.com.

Haunted Acres, 446 Raymond Road, Candia

Attractions: Quarter Mile Nightmare Walk through woods inhabited by some seriously
disagreeable and unreasonable residents; Graveyard of the Damned, where the victims
of experiences gone wrong are still angry; the blacked-out Maze from Hell; 3D
Nuclear Accident House, where radiation has created a rogue group of undesirables;
and Area 52, where visitors can't help but run into a zombie or two.

When: Today through Sunday and Nov. 3.

Tickets: hauntedacresnh.com or 978-228-6543

Spooky World presents Nightmare New England, 454 Charles Bancroft Highway,
Litchfield

attempts to rid the site of a demented family; 3D Festival of Fear, a sideshow of
lights and unbalanced circus folks; Carnage, a sanctuary for a band of evil-doers;
and The Colony, a twisting and turning trail through a community with decidedly
suspect motivations and morals.

the day or night. As its fact page indicates, it takes about 45 minutes to get
through, but it really depends on how fast you run.
