Superficial Fascia
‘Structure:
‘tis layer of loose connective tissue deep to skin
it contains a variable amount of fat, more in females.
Fat is abundant in gluteal region, anterior abdominal wall and breast.
{tis less in limbs.
{tis absent in eye lids, penis and scrotum.
Functions of superficial fascia:
4- It acts as thermal insulator; it prevents the heat loss.
2-It softens and smoothens the surface of the body.
‘3: It facilitates movement of the skin over the underlying structures.
‘a medium to conduct vessels, nerves and lymphatics to the skin
} It contains skin muscles:
- In the face (muscles of expression) pr
‘the palm (paimaris brevis).
glands as the mammary gland, deep sweat glands & fe:
nodes. oma
Deep fascia
brane (compact and regular) collagen fibers
limbs.
thick in palm and sole.
and in anterior abdominal wall
in place. c- Helps venous return.
pta and interosseous membranes:
groups with different actions &
muscle attachment.
wrist and anklet joints.
Plantar aponeurosis (in the sole):eg: sheath in neck around
-ommon carotid artery, internal
ular vein and vagus nerve:
‘of fibrous sheaths
in hand &
‘muscle.
of fibrous median raphe
2 muscles of both sides
2.9: mylohyoid muscles.
Internal fascia
@ tissue lining of the body cavity. It extends between the different organs.
superficial fascia:
strong coats: around organs as fibrous pericardium
g ligaments: for certain ligaments
ans: in position.
