BA (Hons) Media Production

Our creative-rich Media Production course focuses on helping you to gain the wide range of
knowledge and skills necessary to become a media practitioner

Media Production is an industry-focused course with its core disciplines being film, audio production
and digital media design, underpinned by scriptwriting. Students engage with each of these in their
first year. The second year allows you to build on this as you learn to work across media forms and
platforms in ways that reflect many of the changes that media industries are currently undergoing.
By the third year you can specialise, and much of the focus is on your Graduate Production Project, a
piece of work developed and made in whatever media form (or forms) you choose to work. This will
give you a flavour of what it takes to succeed in this challenging but rewarding industry.

What’s more, the course is designed in dialogue with industry partners and aims to equip future
media workers who are:

The entire degree is assessed by coursework and you’ll receive regular feedback on your work to
ensure you’re progressing appropriately. By the time you finish the course you’ll have the tools to
position yourself as a rounded graduate on a career pathway of your choosing. To aid this journey
you’ll develop a critical understanding of moving image production and digital media development,
as well as audio and radio production.

For 2019 entry: The entry requirements for this course are 112 - 120 tariff points including a
minimum of 2 A-levels or equivalent. BTEC Extended Diploma: DMM.

BA (Hons) Television Production

If you've got ambitions to enter the television industry as a programme maker, then this is the
course for you. It is designed to give you an excellent overview of the sector, while providing you
with all the skills you need to go into the role of producer or director.

Our graduates have taken on a range of roles, including:

 Commissioning Editor (Channel 4)
 Head of Technical Development (BBC)
 UK On Air Creative Producer Intern.

BA (Hons) Film

The course is designed to give you the opportunity to explore and experiment with different aspects
of filmmaking. (optional placement year)

For 2019 entry: The entry requirements for this course are 112 - 128 tariff points including a
minimum of 2 A levels or equivalent. BTEC Extended Diploma: 112 tariff points (Grade DMM).

GCSEs: GCSE English and GCSE Mathematics grade C (or grade 4 in the reformed GCSE grading) or
equivalent qualifications.

FILM STUDIES (BA)

Moving images are the creative life force of the modern era. Studying them provides a unique means
for you to better understand the world you live in. Explore the diversity of film and television culture
