Hello D113 Families,

Thank you for signing up for our student- led conferences! I am looking
forward to seeing you all at the day and time you have selected.

Here is a glimpse of what our week looked like:

ELA/Social Studies
■ We continued to study the Miwok and Maidu tribes from the Sacramento region.

■ We wrote an informational collaborative paragraph on the Sacramento Region

and the Maidu Tribe.

■ Students have been placed in guided reading groups at their lexile levels and are

working on reading comprehension.

Math
■ This week we talked about the division strategies that students use to divide.

Here are the strategies we used.

■ Students took their first formative on multiplication and division.

Odds and Ends

Standards-Based Grading Parent Night: ​Our school is moving towards Standards

Based Grading. Come join us for a parent night on Thursday, November 1st, from
6:00-7:00pm in the cafeteria. At this event we will discuss: The “What?” and “Why?” of
Standards Based Grading.
Enrichment Survey: ​Click HERE​ to take a few moments to provide feedback regarding
After-School Live's Enrichment program. Enrichment classes are fee-based, but
scholarships are available.

Championship Games: ​There will be no practices on Monday, October 29th. Playoff

games will be held Tuesday, October 30th and Thursday, November 1st. Our first ever
Championship game will be held on Friday, November 2nd at 3:30 PM. Come out and
support our Explorer Athletes!

K5 ONLY Whole School Morning meeting: ​Families are welcome to join us for our
end of trimester whole school morning meeting! At the whole school morning meeting,
we will sing songs, celebrate students and build community in the same way we do in
class each day.
● K-2: Wednesday, November 7th, 8:45 AM- 9:30 AM
● 3-5: Wednesday, November 7th, 9:45 AM - 10:30 AM
