Colouring and cutting time.

Another cold, wet and busy day at the centre. We started the day with
different activities and I noticed that Mohammad Ali really interested in
colouring and cutting. He sat around the colouring and cutting table and asked
me “teacher Fauzia, I want the flower picture”, so I gave it to him. Mohammad
Ali spent a few minutes choosing some colouring pencil to use and I asked Ali
“can you count how many colour pencils you have”, Ali replied “5” which was
the correct answer. When M.Ali finished colouring, he picked up a plastic
scissors and started to cut around the flower. Scissor exercises are important
for developing fine motor skills, hand and eye co-ordination. It is important to
encourage children using scissors at early age in order to build up muscles in
the palm of their hands, since he has to continuously open and close his hand.
With this activity learning happening here:
Mohammad Ali developing hand and eye co-ordination, maths skills,
Independence and self-esteem.
In the future, Mohammad Ali will use different materials and learn how to cut
on the line as well as shapes.
