31 Day Scriptural Guide To Becoming Debt Free

Written by Harold Herring

I read years ago that what you focus on ... expands in your life. If you want to be debt free ... then
you need to focus your mind and mouth on things that will enable and empower your journey to
financial success.
To assist you in your financial freedom journey I've put together 31 powerful scriptures to enrich and
engraft within you God's desire for you to be debt free.

I encourage you to memorize one scripture every day. For instance, on Day 1 memorize the Day 1
scripture and confess it throughout the day. On Day 2, continue confessing the scripture from Day 1
as you commit the scripture for Day 2 to your memory. Meditate on these scriptures and ask the Holy
Spirit to enlighten your spirit with each word.

This exercise is important...it's not enough to just read the Word...you must memorize it and confess
the scriptures on a daily basis. Remember out of the abundance of the heart...the mouth speaks.

Every day you need to be thinking and speaking about being debt free.

Here’s the 31 Day Scriptural Guide To Becoming Debt Free.

Day 1--Proverbs 23:7 (NLT)
“As a man thinks in his heart, so is he. . .”
Day 2--Proverbs 22:6,7
“Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it. The rich
ruleth over the poor, and the borrower is servant to the lender.”
“The poor are ruled by the rich, and those who borrow are slaves of moneylenders.” CEV
Day 3--Galatians 5:1
“Christ has set us free to live a free life. So take your stand! Never again let anyone put a harness of
slavery on you.”

Day 5--2 Timothy 2:4 (NLT)
“Soldiers don’t get tied up in the affairs of civilian life, for then they cannot please the officer who
enlisted them.”
Day 6--Malachi 3:10-12 NIV
“Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says
the LORD Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much
blessing that you will not have room enough for it. I will prevent pests from devouring your crops, and
the vines in your fields will not cast their fruit,” says the LORD Almighty. “Then all the nations will call
you blessed, for yours will be a delightful land,” says the LORD Almighty.”
Day 7--Proverbs 11:28-29
“Trust in your money and down you go! But the godly flourish like leaves in spring. Those who bring
trouble on their families inherit the wind. The fool will be a servant to the wise.”
Day 8--Proverbs 21:20 (TLB)
“The wise man saves for the future, but the foolish man spends what he gets.”
Day 9--Psalm 37:21
“The wicked borroweth, and payeth not again: but the righteous sheweth mercy, and
giveth.”
Day 10--Proverbs 4:25 AMP
“Let your eyes look right on [with fixed purpose], and let your gaze be straight before you.”
Day 11--Matthew 26:41 NLT
“Keep watch and pray, so that you will not give in to temptation. For the spirit is willing, but the body is
weak!”
Day 12--Proverbs 17:18

The Message Bible is a little more direct. . . “It's stupid to try to get something for nothing, or run up
huge bills you can never pay.”
Day 13--Deuteronomy 28:13 MSG
“You will lend to many nations but you yourself won't have to take out a loan. God will make you the
head, not the tail; you'll always be the top dog, never the bottom dog, as you obediently listen to and
diligently keep the commands of God, your God, that I am commanding you today. Don't swerve an
inch to the right or left from the words that I command you today by going off following and worshiping
other gods.”
Day 14--Proverbs 23:5
“Wilt thou set thine eyes upon that which is not? for riches certainly make themselves wings; they fly
away as an eagle toward heaven.”
Day 15--Habakkuk 2:7 AMP
“Shall [your debtors] not rise up suddenly who shall bite you, exacting usury of you, and those awake
who will vex you [toss you to and fro and make you tremble violently]? Then you will be booty for
them.”
“Suddenly, your debtors will take action. They will turn on you and take all you have, while you
stand trembling and helpless.” NLT
Day 16—Proverbs 14:22NIV
“Do not those who plot evil go astray? But those who plan what is good find love and faithfulness.”
Day 17--2 Kings 4:1 MSG

is dead. You well know what a good man he was, devoted to God. And now the man to whom he was
in debt is on his way to collect by taking my two children as slaves.”
Day 18--Romans 13:8 AMP
“Keep out of debt and owe no man anything, except to love one another; for he who loves his
neighbor [who practices loving others] has fulfilled the Law [relating to one's fellowmen, meeting all its
requirements].”
The Message Bible is very clear:

“Don't run up debts, except for the huge debt of love you owe each other.”
Day 19--Ezekiel 18:5 MSG
“Imagine a person who lives well, treating others fairly, keeping good relationships— doesn't eat at
the pagan shrines, doesn't worship the idols so popular in Israel, doesn't seduce a neighbor's spouse,
doesn't indulge in casual sex, doesn't bully anyone, doesn't pile up bad debts, doesn't steal, doesn't
refuse food to the hungry, doesn't refuse clothing to the ill-clad, doesn't exploit the poor, doesn't live
by impulse and greed, doesn't treat one person better than another, But lives by my statutes and
faithfully honors and obeys my laws. This person who lives upright and well shall live a full and true
life. Decree of God, the Master.”
Day 20--Deuteronomy 15:6 AMP
