On May 22, 2017 at 22:33, an explosion took place outside Manchester Arena in Manchester
(United Kingdom). The explosion occurred in the area of the stadium’s lobby at the end of
the concert, which was part of Ariana Grande’s dangerous Woman Tour. Up to 18000 people
had attended the concert. The Manchester police treated the incident as a terrorist attack,
until the following day, the Islamic State of Iraq and the levant attribute the attack, confirming
that it was a terrorist attack. The attack was a suicide bombing.
Police State that 22 people, including the suicide bomber, were killed in the explosion and
another 116 were injured, including children. North West Ambulance Service reported that
60 of it’s ambulances attended the scene, accompanying 59 people to local hospitals and
treating a number of minor injured on the site. According to the police, the attack was carried
out using an improvised explosive device, self-detonate. The attacker was identified as
Salman abedi, 22, born in the same city of Manchester in the bosom of a family of Libyan
origin.
Many parents and children who attended the concert were separated in confusion after the
explosion, the team of Ariana Grande announced through the official Instagram account of
the dangerous Woman Tour, the cancellation of the shows of the dates between the May
25th to june 5th.
One way to prevent accidents of such magnitude is to reinforce security with people that go
into the concerts to avoid such aberrant acts as the one that happened in Manchester.
