EIA-96 Recently, a new coding system (EIA-96) has appeared on 19% SMD resistors. It consists of a ‘three character code: the first 2 numbers will tell us the 3 significant digits ofthe resistor value (eee the lookup table below) and the third marking (a letter) will dicate the multiplier. For example: 122 = 1 2k 19. Some manufacturers Undetine al three digs do not confuse this withthe code Used on low value current sensing resistors. + SMDs with values in order of miliohms, made for current sensing appliations are often marked with the help of the letter M or m, showing the decimal point location (with the value in millohms). For example: 1MSO = 1.50mf, 2M2 = 2.2mN. + Current sensing SMDs can alzo be marked witha ong baron top (ZmiS = 1.5m2, ROOT = ‘mf, et.) or 8 long bar under the code (204 = 0.1019, 047 ~ 0.0470). The underin is used when the starting 'R’ has 9 be omitted due tothe limited space onthe resistors Body. So, for example, ROGB becomes 068 = 0.0682 (68m2).
