BECKER-RUDDER Structure and mode of operation The BECKER-rudder is a “flap-rudder". The flap is connected with the main rudder by a hinge joint. When putting the helm this flap is turning by means of a link in such a way that the angle of the flap is double the angle of the main rudder. As a result of an appropriate balance no greater rudder torques arise than with a normal rudder. Thefefore the customary steering gears can be installed.
