In this time she has proven herself to be an outstanding educator. She is an advocate for her students, she is knowledgeable of professional practices and she puts in the extra time needed to make her classes and IEP meetings run smoothly. As an RSP teacher, Ms. Polan cares deeply for each of her students and works hard to make sure they are receiving the accommodations and minutes of resource instruction that are called for in the IEP and that instruction is focused on the goals. She has wonderful relationships with the families of the students on her caseload and this opens the door for strong two way communication throughout the year. Ms. Polan is continually working on her practices as an educator and is very self motivated to be the best teacher she can be. She is very coachable and is often working on strategies with the classroom teachers to maximize student engagement and leaming. She is a leader in promoting co-teaching at our site and has made presentations to our staff regarding the benefits of this practice, Ms. Polan is a life-long learner who will continue to grow as an educator throughout her career. Finally, Ms, Polan develops the relationships needed with her students and their families to enable her to truly understand their needs and concerns. Ms. Polan puts in the time and energy to make sure that the IEP is appropriate and manageable. The meetings are collaborative and thoughtful. Parents are involved in the process and truly listened to as they participate. This is a skill that takes many educators never mastert; it comes naturally to Ms. Polan. Every person involved in the IEP process is grateful for her skill, her tact and her very real concern and plans for the student.. Ms. Polan would be a strong addition to any school.
