Diagram A

In Diagram A, PQRS is a trapezium and O is the origin. Point P lies on the x-axis whereas
point S lies on the y-axis. Given the gradient of the straight line PS is -3.

(i) Find the coordinates of point P.

y= -3x + c y- intercept = 6 = P( 0, 2 )
6 = -3(0) + c = 63
6=0+c -6 = -3 x  int1ercept
c=6 x - intercept = 2

(ii) Find the equation of the straight line PQ.

m= y= mx + c y=x+2 6
81
= 2 = 1/2(0) + c 0
41
2
c=2 2
