University of Sto. Tomas won its third straight UAAP women's beach volleyball title.

University of Sto. Tomas annexed its third straight title after the duo of Sisi Rondina and Blove Barbon
completed their sweep of the UAAP Season 81 women's volleyball tournament Sunday.

The Tigresses cruised past De La Salle University's Tim Tiamzon and Michelle Morente in two games in
the best-of-three championship series capped by a dominating 21-7, 21-16 win in Game 2 at the Sands
SM by the Bay.

UST extended its reign without dropping a set and won its 19th straight match that bridged three
seasons. The Tigresses scored their sixth crown overall.

Graduating player Rondina made her exit in the tournament with her fourth title in five years and fourth
Most Valuable Player award.

Barbon was named rookie of the year.

"For you to prove yourself na kaya mo, why not?," said Rondina, who in five years posted a 40-6 win-loss
record. "Nag-start ako ng first year parang alam ko sa sarili ko na wala pang napapatunayan kasi ganito
lang, maliit lang ako. Pero the time na nananalo kami, puwede pala. Bonus na itong MVP. Ang goal ko
lang talaga manalo at makapagbigay para sa UST."

The Tigresses took the fight out of the Lady Spikers early in Game 2 with a dominating win in the
opening frame that dictated the pace of the match.

UST took the series opener, 21-12, 21-19, in their early morning clash.

DLSU, which booked a Finals ticket for the first time since winning it all in Season 78, made Game 1
interesting as the Lady Spikers kept pace with UST. They tied the second set at 19 only to falter in the
end.
