Raja Ampat Islands

Raja Ampat is a district that consists of more than 1,500 small islands and a
separate new district of Sorong in 2004, and is part of the province of West Papua.
Raja Ampat is part of the Coral Triangle which contains the richest marine
biodiversity in the world. Members of the coral triangle are the Philippines, Indonesia,
Malaysia, Papua New Guinea, the Solomon Islands, and Timor Leste. The Coral
Triangle is the heart of the world's coral reef biodiversity, even 75% of the world's
marine species found in these islands.
The archipelago is remote and relatively undisturbed by humans, marine
diversity is high in Raja Ampat, strongly influenced by its position between the Indian
