Five O’clock Tea

Do you know how does a tea made from Quercus cortex or Urticae folium taste? Well few years ago
before the tradition of the Five O’clock Tea event begun, we didn’t know either.

Three years ago our recent President, Vicepresident for education at that time came up with the idea
to organise an event in collaboration with Pharmacognosy department and a sponsor - producer of
medical plant teas.

The whole event is located in the Corridor between our two faculty buildings. Each infusion has its
table, set of cups and a waiter serving the tea. During the tasting competition, the competitor’s goal
is to recognise as many of plant infusions as his/her taste buds allow him/her. The contestants then
allign tastes with the names both latin and czech of the plant and the family which the plant belongs
to.

However, don’t forget that this competiton doesn’t bring rivality into our faculty. The atmosphere
makes it a place of meeting for students and professors by a hot cup of brewed flavonoids, essential
oils and tannins. The luckiest of tasters wins a price from a sponsor of this competiton. No surprise,
the price is set of teas.
