Computerized Microscope Lab

Review:

1. Which objective is most magnified?

2. Which objective should you always start with when trying to focus on a
specimen?

3. If you cannot see your specimen, what is something you can do to try and
find it?

Directions
1. For this lab you will use the onion cell, apple cell, blood cell
and leaf cell
2. Take a picture of each focused specimen on the screen (I will
check them later)
3. For each cell type, answer the following questions

Onion Deciduous Apple Cell Blood Cell Skeletal

Tree

Reproductive

Clumped or
scattered
4. What organelles do you see in all the cells? Is there one that you can only
see in some of them?

5. Given your knowledge of plant and animal cells, what organelle is

different in the apple and leaf cell?

6. Using the chart above, what is different about their function in the tree?

7. Looking at the blood cell and skeletal cell, how is the role of the leaf and
apple cell similar to the differences in your own body?

8. Challenge Question: Why do you think it is so difficult to focus on the leaf

cells? (Hint: the slide was made by shaving off cells with a toothpick)
