Report for Intra-MUN 2018

The 21st Century demands skill sets that move beyond the scope of a classroom; negotiations,
diplomacy, awareness and presence of mind. With this spirit of progressive education Birla High
School held its 5th Intra-School Model United Nations between the 25th to the 27th of
September 2018. Simulating the Security Council from 1967, the committee was set at the
advent of the 6 Day War. The agenda read, “Reducing Tensions in the Middle East with Special
Emphasis on the Arab Israeli Conflict”
The primary purpose of holding a Historical Security Council was to gauge to what extent could
delegates prevent a war, and change previously made decisions. Delegates deliberated,
discussed and brainstormed to further the cause of their allotted nation. Although no
comprehensive resolution solving the conflict was passed, participants posed as diplomats for
three days to bag the ‘Best Delegate’ award. At the end of the simulation, Ronit Basu from 11
Com C & Hum claimed the award.
