I was born in Houston, TX and raised in Breckenridge, CO. Growing up in
the mountains has really shaped who I am as a person. I enjoy being outside and I love hiking, camping, and skiing. One of my first jobs was at a summer camp, where I first found my passion for working with children.
I am a senior studying Early Childhood Education at CSU. My experiences
working at a summer camp and now at a preschool have confirmed my decision to pursue elementary education in order to continue working with children. This semester I am thrilled to be a part of Erin Sullivan’s third grade classroom.
As a practicum student at Shepardson Elementary it is my role to be a
learner, collaborator, and leader facilitating student success. Throughout the semester I will design and implement developmentally appropriate curriculum through lessons, as well as observe and co-teach lessons by other practicum students in the room. My goal is to establish and practice skills necessary for creating a meaningful, interactive, and enriching environment for children in the K-3 setting.
My teaching philosophy is founded in the idea that children are
competent and capable learners that are actively evolved in their construction of knowledge. I value the idea that each child learns differently and it is important that teachers value each modality through which people learn within their classroom. I look forward to getting to know and work with each child that make up Ms. Sullivan’s classroom!
