Re: Project 2 Subject Choice

I’m going to use one of the suggestions from the project guide. I’d like to write about the lack of
cultural sensitivity to co-workers in the workplace. I’ve had many instances of this that would be
considered harassment. It’s a subject close to me, because as sometimes the only person of
Hispanic decent in an office, I feel I notice it more and have at times had myself targeted.

The project would be a Power Point presentation detailing what a lack of cultural sensitivity
looks like. I’d then use data to show reports or metrics detailing people reporting cultural
sensitivity issues and what they see. I’d then detail what I’ve seen at my current job or past jobs.
Then finally detail solutions or training that can be done to help create an inclusive culture at the
workplace.

The workplace should be a place everyone feels safe and comfortable to be themselves. At
times it might just be a lack of understanding of a culture or religion. Other times certain
prejudices might be the cause. But if we can create a better understanding of what cultural
insensitivity looks like and what can be done to fix it, we can create a safe place for all in the
work place.
