Wadi El Salib Kfardebian - Session

Kfardebian is the town of all seasons and the capital of mountain tourism in Lebanon. Comfortably
situated in the heights of Kesserwan, Kfardebian is located 600m and 2800m above sea level, 44km
away from Beirut.

Wadi El Salib is a Wild Valley, with steep sides, where flows Nahr El Salib. On the banks of the river we
can contemplate 48 houses, three mills, a church and a chapel; all are dating from the Eighteenth
Century.

away from Beirut, A Ottoman stone bridge connects the rivers banks and the Roman stairs are linking
Qlayaat to Kfardebian.

Wadi El Salib is an old town the last inhabitant left the scene there over 70 years ago.

In 2012 the European Union inaugurates the valley of Wadi el Salib, EU decides that the natural beauty
of Wadi El Salib should benefit from ecological environmental protection and holds a strong potential
for tourism development... 4 houses were restored and transformed into guest houses and the church
of “Notre Dame du Rosaire”.

Altitude: between 1’020 m and 630 m

During the two World Wars, the residents abandoned the valley, leaving their homes that were
damaged with time. You can explore the remaining of the village landmarks: an old Ottoman bridge,
ruins of old mills and grape presses, along with the crumbling remains of a silk factory and churches,
ancient houses.

Every day St Rafka marched this road while praying the rosary along the road.

Kfardebian contains currently 4500 houses, 15 churches ..... The ruins of Faqra, the traditional Lebanese
houses, the old and new bridges, and the remaining mills in the Valley of the Cross are good evidence
showing the importance of the town and its rich historical origins.
