RLC’s are used to select a narrow range of from radio waves. This circuit is also used in
band-pass filters, band-stop filter, low-pass filter, and high-pass filters. RLC circuits are used in
oscillator circuits. RLC’s are used in toning radio receivers and television sets. This is an
example of band-pass filter. An antenna is used to supply the voltage to the RLC circuit to pick
up the correct frequencies. RLC’s are used to detect radio waves. Radio waves have the longest
wavelengths and lowest frequencies on the electromagnetic spectrum.

Proposal:

Since one application of RLC circuits is capturing radio signals, I think RLC circuits can
be useful if integrated into space shuttles or space stations. Doing so can allow for an addition
means of communication between astronauts and Earth. Or perhaps astronauts can use
electronics that have RLC circuits to transmit information to not only Houston but also, their
families and friends as well.

Execution:

To make this possible, there needs to be a receptor to capture the sound made by either
the astronaut or their family, a codifier, a receiving antenna, a receiver, and a sound output. The
codifier will be a transmitting antenna. The transmitting antenna will use amplitude modulation
to send out the information. The sound output will be a stereo for the family to hear from home
or wherever they are. Both parties will need to be able to tune directly to the necessary
wavelength in order to hear each other. The capacitor and inductor will respond to the frequency.
