Policy changes at Mercy Medical Center will influence nurses to be recommended for in-

service training where they are taught to use HIT systems, and are advised on how to cooperate

in securing patient information. Nurses will also review the HIPAA guidelines on patient

confidentiality before accepting all changes proposed by the new patient confidentiality policy.

Therefore, further learning will among nurses will be encouraged as they choose to adopt new
